Single: Clams Casino - Crystals

So yeah, everyone and they got damn mama's mama is all over this new GTA game, and from what I hear, for good reason.. I guess it's a righteous blast to play, but comin from a fella that has always liked the music that these games featured thee most, I was anticipating moreso what was gonna be on the FM dial in them whips that you steal!

One cut that you're gonna find on 'FLYLO FM' is this; Clams Casino's latest instrumental-from-mars endeavor, "Crystals". If you love fat basslines, fuzzy snyths and plunging melodies that all form a very drinkable and movable, menacing tonic... this is your cup of tea.

Video: Showbiz & A.G. - Walk With Me

"A wise man told me you always got two people walkin with you; one is who you was and one is who you wanna be"

Dope new visuals from a legendary Hip-Hop duo, off their latest collaboration LP "Mugshot Music: Preloaded" ...

Single: Black Milk - Sunday's Best / Monday's Worst

This joint right here man... this may just be my fav. beat of the whole fuckin month...ain't nuthin like when Milk gets ahold of a soul sample...

For "Sunday's Best / Monday's Worst" you're treated to two great, rousing cuts that perfectly describe them old Sunday's and Monday's man. Milk examines his rigid upbringing in the church, and then delves into that weary, worn out Monday feeling when you're unemployed by choice and you hit that block lookin to get paid..by whatever means.

Great work here..and I mean great. Milk's first solo work in a couple years I believe and it's going back to his roots--the soul sample flipping. He's not lost a step in that arena... not one, and his rhymes are still vibrant. This is a must hear cut.

"It ain't too late to get your values straight"

Single: J-Live - Heaven (freestyle)

J-Live droppin' a new tape! There is still hope underground heads!!

The album features Common, T3, Talib Kweli, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Guilty Simpson, J. Rocc, DJ Rhettmatic and others. As Frank Nitt states, “We created an album that would make Dilla proud. Single: Oddisee - Own Appeal

DMV based producer/rapper and currently the most slept-on muthafucka out drops a new single that you'll find on his new mixtape "Tangible Dream" that will accompany his new instrumental album "The Beauty In All", which drops heavy, on the 1st of October...

Video Interview: Zane Lowe Interviews Kanye West For BBC

Ya know... I've said a lot of shit about Ye' in the past publically... from the fact that I enjoyed his music more when he was mainly a soul-sample producing cat in the background to me always, always applauding him as the ONLY rapper who stood up on TV and attacked George Bush Jr. after Katrina. Complexity is this cat... and that's coo, I'm complex..I know ppl don't fit in one lil' tiny box..nah, we wouldn't even fuckin want that if they could. At least you shouldn't.

Here, Ye' speaks with Zane Lowe and sheds some jewels about self-perception, the nature of corporations in the music industry, what he wanted to acomplish with his new album "Yeezus", being an outsider in the fashion industry, making predictions for the future and a lot more... a lot more...

No matter what you may think of thi cat, truth is truth and he def.touches on a good deal of it here. Sit back and listen for a bit..

Just, puro goodness... Stik Figa maaaayne!!

The new single establishes the setting for the story of "The City Under The City" and shows movement from a monochromatic life into the colorful depths below the surface.

"As I wax poetic over past aesthetics,
craft a legend of a time before the apathetic.
Let’s start a tab. What will you have? Is that cash or credit?
How about a glass of purgatory with a splash of heaven?"

Boardwalk Empire Presents... Sounds Of The Onyx: Prohibition Era Jazz Remixed

I rarely put an eye on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, but I will say, the show is pretty decent and captivating when I do.. as if the adventures of Mobster Nucky Thompson weren't a big enough selling point, I guess teh folks over at HBO decided to reel in the Jazz heads too...

This is where it gets interesting... Some of the people behind Boardwalk Empire recruited some of Hip-Hop's best jazz men to flip some of the prohibition era Jazz records they had layin around. Pete Rock, Jazzy Jeff, Tall Black Guy, Shafiq Husayn and others do some righteous ass work that you gotta hear..

"Sounds Of The Onyx" can be heard in full, streaming, below and is available for free download as well...

Props to ChemistrySurfboards.com for debuting a stellar ass remix from L.A. underground beat wizard Exile...

Arts The Beatdoctor - Lazy Thunder EP Minimix

It's an instrumental kinda day today I guess..

Here you get a 7 minute minimix of Arts The Beatdocter's upcoming (see the cover date) new EP "Lazy Thunder"...

Again, the wonky, fuzzy off beat instro fans need to check in on this one...

Jol - Coffee And Cigarettes

What a perfect title right? LOL, I'm all about that title (minus the cancer sticks...) and I'm even more all about Denmark-based producer Jol's soulful, jazzy, dusty beatwork.

"Coffee & Cigarettes" is a 6-track mini instrumental album that is pretty fucking soothing and head nodding.. kind of has the opposite effect of what the title's ingredients will do to you... enjoy.

Mr. Probz - The Treatment

Stirring and more than thoughtful new album from Dutch emcee Mr. Probz that you may listen to in it's entirety right here...

Lots of great production on this, and a heavyweight guest feature provided as well, courtesy of Action Bronson...

Single: Sole - WHITENOISE: nomoredystopias

Etherial.. downbeat... the perfect music to accompany my thoughts on a day where rain is falling continuously.

The sounds you hear arranged here are from Sole, AKA Soleone; a cat that's been featured on PHH before (search function ppl) but that I hadn't heard from in a lil' bit.. He's returned with a new beat-type album called "Whitenoise: nomoredystopias" that drops on the 17th... Here's the title cut...

DJ Yoda - How To Cut & Paste: The Asian Edition

Okay, this is an interesting mix from DJ Yoda..I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a novelty in a way, and I like novelty..

So, what Yoda does here is mix up a ton of Hip-Hop tracks that have an Asian theme, Asian samples, Asian whatever, ya know...It's like a neat lil jaunt into Hip-Hop and it's tracks and Martial arts movie samples... dope right?

As to be expected, Wu-Tang shows up here as well as Biz Markie, DOOM, Eric B. & Rakim and many other things on this.. if you liked his last "Cut & Paste" mixtape, you should dig this pretty damn well too... I guess this dropped back in June, but I missed it.. peep the stream below and be amazed..

Single: Daedelus - Keep Still

L.A. producer Daedelus hits you in the head with a new, wonky effort called "Keep Still" from his new LP "Drown Out" that drops in a few days...

Like this, it's off pace, off beat and quite different.. a lil' sauce for your dish so to speak...

Single: Axel F. (J. Rocc & MED) ft. Oh No - All Day

Who don't like a song about just some regular everyday ass shit? That's what MED guides you through here as he and Beat Junkies DJ wizard J. Rocc reprise their Axel F. group and blast off a new single from their new EP "Sofa Set", which is available now..

Classic sample work here...

Video/Album: Exile - Zip Disks & Floppies

Exile is forever at work crafting insanely mellow, but swinging, boom bappin' beats.. In this wildly inventive video tho he shares the entirety of his new beat tape album "Zip Disks & Floppies"; which is actually comprised of beats that he made a loooong ass time ago and were just laying around...

It's about a 30 minute listen.. very nice work, as per usual for the underground MPC master...

Single: Dynasty ft. Skyzoo - Star And The Sky

"Try and stop me, the female version of Rocky / I body all my contenders legitimately like cocky / broads are so sloppy, anything for a record / I'm workin for what I'm gettin'"

Ya girl Dy AKA Dynasty, AKA the latest new addition in a long line of Queens, NYC spitters steps up to the stage with a powerful cut from her debut "A Star In Life's Clothing", and surpasses all expectations..

Alongside Skyzoo the brash new artist flexes lyrical dexterities that are sure to garner more praise...

Single: Guilty Simpson & Small Professor ft. AG - It's Nuthin

Hardcore all over this, the 2nd release from one of my favorite new producers to emerge in the past few years; Small Pro and Detroit bruiser Guilty Simpson..

Here they link up with NYC legend and DITC alumnus Andre The Giant for "It's Nuthin"... .

Expect Guilty and Small Pro's "Highway Robbery" album on the 24th.. Til then play this at obscene ass levels in the whip while commiting felonious acts.. J/P, be good kiddies..

Tarik Sabar - Plush (Beat Tape)

This Bakersfield, CA beatmaker who has a serious affinity for Soul records and record-diggin' gets full respect...

A lot of the beats on this 6-track mini release just ooze that warmth and grit that only a versed crate man and his trusty MV 8800 could create....

Like I said, 6 cuts overall.. break Tarik off the $2.99 for the whole thing...

Single: Sunni Colón - Thrill (prod. by Patrick Lukens)

Ahhh, feel that? That's the sound of D O once again rockin' out to some shit folks had no idea he would feel..

L.A. singer/rapper Sunni Colon takes a superbly wavy production from Patrick Lukens and crafts a pretty dope cut over it.. I even dig the semi-distorted vocals.. nice work.. a very different kinda love joint.

Single: Troy Ave. ft. Prodigy, Noreaga, Raekwon - New York City (prod. by John Scino)

Troy Ave. is getting a rare kinda co-sign here..

NY's young, new bloodline links with three of the area's celebrated veterans of all time and creates a track that mixes some of that new NYC with some of that old, and does so pretty well. Oh, and he takes a shot at Kendrick Lamar for good measure.

Single: Miguel - Can't Sleep 2gether

Main reason this is going up is b/c Adult Swim always holds muthafuckas down on the musical tip.. and, yeah, I mean, I'mma support my dude Miguel despite those comments not so long ago about "black people" on Twitter.. (you half black yourself Mexicano!) and because, yeah this joint just goes...

Don't expect his usual brand of R&B/slowgroove.. this is a lil' different, but still coo..

As it turns out I guess this has been in the works for awhile and is officially done.. the Philly Collective and the legendary English Singer/songwriter are done with their collabo project "Wise Up Ghost", and you can now hear what's been described as a very "70s funk sounding" album, in all of it's glory over at NPR..

"Left In The Deck" is 10 cuts that Ali recorded all over; from basements to hotel rooms and so forth. All tracks are produced by Jake One and contain little to no cosmetic workups.. just the raw shit in demo form..

Gummy Soul x Souls Of Mischief - 93 Still

All the Souls Of Mischief fans need to jump on this immediately...

So, the 90s are behind us.. way fucking behind us. The year 1993 might as well be 1977...those 20 years since Souls' debut classic flew right effin' by people.

But, backpackers will always have their memories of that fateful early 90s classic delivered by the west coast collective, and now they'll be able to revisit the project in a brand new way thanks to Gummy Soul..

Read below for the complete lowdown and stream.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of 93 'Til Infinity, Souls of Mischief graciously opened their vaults to give Gummy Soul the exclusive acapellas of their classic album, to remix for the first time ever.

As the framework of the project, Gummy Soul’s Wally Clark, dug through his extensive record collection, and gathered all of the songs that were sampled to make hip-hop in 1993. Jazz, Funk and Soul songs, used to create classics from Digable Planets, Snoop Dogg and Black Moon, were then re-contextualized to provide familiar, yet updated versions of some of hip-hop’s most beloved material.

"I wanted to take all of the records that people used back then, and create new compositions using the same techniques they were using – such as filtered bass lines, classic drum breaks, echo-y horns – to make an album that sounds like it could have been released in 1993," says Clark. "It was an amazing exercise trying to capture the essence of a sacred time in hip-hop. It also allowed me to playfully use samples that are normally deemed off-limits, because they are too well known."

Single: Electric Guest - The Bait (Shlohmo Remix)

Here's a new twist on what was originally a much different kinda record from L.A.-based band, Electric Guest. The new version of "The Bait" comes courtesy of fellow La La Lander, Shlohmo; a producer/beatmaker/percussionist type that has a sound all his own...

Peep it out and remember that PHH is home to more than Hip-Hop ladies and gents... Always has been.

Single: Sean Born ft. Maffew Ragazino - Trust in Me (prod. by Dunc)

The DMV-repper known as Sean Born links with one of Brooklyn's best new hopes in Maffew Ragazino for a superbly produced cut (courtesy of fellow DMV'er Dunc of DTMD fame) that is is guaranteed to have the nostalgia pulsating within you...

Video: Cookin Soul X REELL Clothing

It's been a minute since I last heard from Cookin' Soul (Big Size & Zock) AKA two of the best remix producers on the planet...

In this lil' excursion they get together with Reell Clothing and take a walk around their native Valencia, Spain and show you their studio for a bit.. It's kind of a glorified commercial, but in an arty farty kinda way.. plus the background beat is nutty... enjoy..

Single: Rapsody ft. Chance The Rapper & Big K.R.I.T. - Lonely Thoughts

The 33 yr old North Click native that has been slowly (but surely) taking the spot as the best new femcee around has somethin' brand new fa ya...

Off her upcoming "She's Got Game" mixtape that will be dropping on iTunes on the 17th, "Lonely Thoughts" is a perfect example of how Rapsody can reel you in lyrically, painting a picture with her unique vocal tone and a myriad of vocab. Chance The Rapper and KRIT are along for the ride, but this showcase is clearly all her own.
