Paul Banks - Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be

New mixtape from Brit-Indie, post punk vocalist Paul Banks of Interpol fame... who unbeknownest to me makes beats.. and does so quite well.

Some really ill shit on this if you dig the more downtempo, fuzzed out, slightly Madlib'esque, blunted and oh so freely composed instrumental typa stuff.. I know I will partake.

Besides the wonky beat work, you'll also get a few collab's that Paul was able to snag up from names like EL-P, Talib Kweli, and Mike G (Odd Future).. It's over at Datpiff for free.99.. dig in babies.

Paul Banks - Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be

Video/Interview: DJ Muggs For Mass Appeal

Brand new interview wit the man, the legend.. none other than DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and Soul Assassins Fame..

Single: Big K.R.I.T. ft. Rapsody & Heather Victoria - Gettin Mine (prod. by 9th Wonder)

Hip-Hop lives in the South baby!

If you doubt that shit, take a listen to country bwoi K.R.I.T.'s latest offering that features Jamla queen and the femcee on everyone's mind, Rapsody, as well as the silky vocals of Heather Victoria.. oh, and the beat! Sounds like one of 9th's older (and my preffered) style of beatmaking here..all in all a dope look indeed.

Dirty Naturals - weatherPROOF

Jersey is STILL a hot bed of Hip-Hop talent, both new and old, and in case you forgot, here's somethin from the former..

The Dirty Naturals (Remsa & Event) combine 90's production sensibilities with raspy, rugged vocals that pair a witty sense of humor with realistic street and inndustry imagery..

"weatherPROOF" is what I often refer to as a hidden gem. So happy I stumbled across this.. and you will be as well.. good boom bap is so hard to come by in the 2013..

This, their sophomore release clocks in at 11 tracks and features names like Rass Kass, Louis Logic and Sam Doom... Cop it on their bandcamp for .50 cents or DL it free below..

We here at PHH are both huge fans of Brother Ali and the enigma that is Nardwuar, so, you can imagine how it feels when we see Ali paying tribute to Nard via song...

Here's Ali's breakdown of the cut that he actually produced himself:

I’ve had the pleasure of being interviewed and featured in some of the most incredible publications but the most entertaining and interesting interviews Ive ever had was with the one and only Nardwuar. During our interview he gave me The original program to a Muhammad Ali exhibition fight in Vancouver and several records. First thing I did when I got home from the tour was listen through the records and make a beat from one of them. I ended up recording this song.

...and, just in case you didn't peep it yet, here's the actual Nardwuar/Ai interview vid..

Single: J.Period & Black Thought - Rage Is Back Freestyle

Ya know, shit like this proves yet again why this man Black Thought is one of the all-time most un-fuckwitable cats ever on the mic..

To assist writer Adam Mansbach with the new mixtape he's doin with J.Period to create some buzz for his new book, "Rage Is Back", Black Thought goes ahead and freestyles over Nas's classic cut, "NY State Of Mind" from his all-time classic record "Illmatic"..

In case you're not familiar with Mansbach, the man is a hell of a writer.. hell of a writer, and you should def. peep out his works. I know most folks these days know him from his hilarious "adult children's book" "Go The Fuck To Sleep", but some of his other works, most notably "Angry Black White Boy: A Novel", shouldn't go un-noticed.. and yeah, his new book, "Rage Is Back" dropped 5 days ago.. so be sure to grab that too.

Former Arsonists member D-Stroy links up with two Boston heavyweights in Slaine and Statik Selektah for a brand new and very ill track titled "Ya Don't Stop"... I think I felt the urge to get up and pop lock like 4 times throughout the duration of this..

The chorus cuts that Statik provides as well as the beat are killer.. real nice joint..

More info on "Tranquil Funk" below:

Recorded in 1994 in my bedroom, this is: “Tranquil Funk”; which was a 16 track cassette tape only given out 2 close friends & associates in my Pasadena, Ca. neighborhood, without any intentions of getting a ‘record deal’ or any of the sort. I was just doing what I love: Music. At this time in my life I was very young in the mind (via the ‘immature use’ of the ‘N’ word, in ‘some’ of these tracks & a word I NEVER will use in ‘my own personal music’ ever again), yet musically advanced amongst my peers. This ‘limited time only’ FREE DOWNLOAD is a snapshot in time, in relation 2 my story & origins within this music game.

News: Big Boi Reveals He Didn't Vote For Barack Obama

I guess it may surprise some, but Big Boi ain't no Democrat.. to the contrary, Sir Lucious Leftfoot is actually a Libertarian, and not only that, in this interview with HuffPost Live, the longtime ATL emcee divulged that he voted for Gary Johnson this past presidential election, not Barry Obama... Hmmm.. some may have a problem with that, personally, I think it shows what we've all known all along, Big Boi ain't no fool.. he's paying attention.

While I will say that his political views definitely don't align with mine, and that he should def. take a further look into the Libertarian ethos and just what they really stand for *cough* they're closet Republicans *cough*, I'm happy he's an independent thinker and unafraid to state so.

Single: Joey Bada$$ - Unorthodox (prod. by DJ Premier) [Radio Rip]

Ahhhh man.. I was already a Joey Bada$$ fan, but this pretty much cements his status to me.. anytime you get this man Premo to co-sign you, you're well on ya way, and old heads with staunch notions for the old school will accept you..

On a sidenote, I guess that Mountain Dew is gettin in the friggin' music game.. make of that what you will.. In any case, this is the Radio Rip of "Unorthodox"; Joey's new track, that features classic Premo production...
