Interview: Ghostface Killah Talks About The Time Wu-Tang Clan Got Run Outta Houston

We all know Ghostdeini keeps it more than thoro, and here we get yet another timeless story from him about the early days of the Wu, when things could still get very, very dicey with the fans out on tour in unfamilar hoods..

As told to Complex mag in a recent interview, for their 'Tour Stories' segment, back in the day, H-Town wasn't shown the clansmen no love:

"I remember [a Southern crowd] chased us out of Texas back in ‘92 or ‘93. If it wasn’t for Ol’ Dirty, we would’ve been fucked up," he said. "We were in Houston in the Fifth Ward. They had a big mural of Scarface on the wall. So I felt it, I’m a spiritual dude. I told Killah Priest, 'Yo, listen man, shit don’t feel right in here. Let’s stick together'...we’re on stage and RZA is talking. We got one little knucklehead nigga in the crowd. He’s like, 'Get the fuck outta here with that shit. Get the fuck out! We don’t want to hear that shit.' So RZA’s like, 'What? What you say?' So RZA gave him the mic. Dude took the mic and was like, 'I said get the fuck out of here. We don’t want to hear that shit.' So RZA, he passed the mic back and shit, so RZA up there still doing his shit. So money just took his shit and threw his cup on RZA. But RZA had the Heineken bottle in his other hand and just trashed him [and hit him over the head with the bottle]. And it was on!"

"You can carry guns over there. So we was on stage, we ran outside that side door, and these niggas came but we was all in the van. We rushed in, all of us got in the van, but we had nowhere to go. All of a sudden Dirt was like, 'Yo, make a left this way, go through here.' Word is bond. Out of nowhere, it was freedom, freedom. Free at last! And we just made it right to the highway nigga. And we got beat. Because that’s when we was getting $100 a show and we’d have to split it $10 a piece. We had the money and it was a fake hundred dollar bill."

Single: Masta Killa - R U Listening (prod. by Inspectah Deck)

On Dec. 11th one of the more eleusive clansmen, Masta Killa, will be droppin' his latest LP, "Selling My Soul", that will no doubt round out the year properly..

Here, we get an initial taste of the album's contents with "R U Listening", a proper cut that is produced by none other than Inspectah Deck..

Single: Method Man, Freddie Gibbs & Street Life - Built For This (Has-Lo remix)

Philly production and rhyming upstart that's been turning heads, Has-Lo puts his remix touches on a new joint from the Man With Iron Fists movie soundtrack..

Mef, Gibbs and Streetlife already had a banger on their hands, but Has's entry into the remix contest for the track is def., well, how can I put this, "Wu soundin'".. Yup, he's captured that sound wonderfully..

The Rza - The Man With The Iron Fists Soundtrack

The Rza continues his largely successful foray into cinema and presents the soundtrack for Quentin Tarrantino's latest flick; The Man With The Iron Fists.

Usually you can find Rza actually scoring the background music for the films he's involved with, and I believe he did a bit of that here, but this time out the man's main focus was putting together this nicely woven soundtrack and actually acting in the film..

Don't be skeptical children, some of the illest joints can be found on a movie soundtrack.. this one features names like The Black Keys, Kool G Rap, Talib Kweli, Freddie Gibbs, Joell Ortiz, M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch, Danny Brown, The Flatbush Zombies and of course Wu Clansmen like Rae, Ghost and Meth.

You may stream and preview here before you go drop your $.7.99 to own it and go peep the flick in theaters ...

Video: Raekwon - Scroll

It pays to go over to to the Netherlands and shoot cryptic videos for crime saga rhymes... Just ask this man Raekwon.

Thanks to LRG, Rae got to sport a  pretty ill jacket in this vid, and the whole video itself--shot last year--is seeing the light of day. Enjoy.. no one laces the hitman persona quite like The Chef.

Single: Method Man ft. StreetLife & Freddie Gibbs - Built For This

Man, how long has it been since I heard Meth truly go to work on some Shaolin-esque' production? How much longer still since he teamed with his longtime protege/collab man, StreetLife?

..And as if that wasn't reason enough for us to peep this new joint, that stems from Rza's upcoming "The Man With the Iron Fists" movie soundtrack, Freddie Gibbs is along for the ride...

Video: Masta Killa - What You See/Cali Sun

New Masta Killa people!! AKA mandatory viewing...

Here the Wu clansmen debuts his new video for "What You See" and "Cali Sun", and it's refreshing to see how this man continues to grow, continues to do new things and take fresh approaches.. These joints just feel like Summer time partying don't they?

Directed by Jeff Pliskin... Masta Killa's new LP "Selling My Soul" comin soon!

Single: Raekwon - Keep It Politics (prod. by DJ Babu)

The Chef links with left coast Deejaying and production legend DJ Babu for a Ruby Hornet sanctioned hit..

The Beat Junkie and the Clansmen provide a Jazz'd out, hardcore head nodder...

Ruby Hornet, the Chi-Town based indie label is readying their 2nd installment of the "Closed Sessions" series.. get ready..

P.S. if this track is something you wanna see get constructed in the lab.. look no further than this link.

Single: Killah Priest - The Park

One of the most prolific and consistent Wu-Affiliates, AKA Killah Priest laces the world with a complete banger...

You were meant to run this back 10 times yo.. Just that dense verbiage that Priest does so effortlessly, and has done for over a decade on "The Park"...

Single: Rza - Blowin In The Wind

I guess #WuWednesdays are back...

The Rza, right on the heels of releasing his new movie along with Quentin Tarantino, drops off a new, moody and subdued track called "Blowin' In The Wind" ..

Single: Ethel Cee ft. Curly Castro & Has-Lo - Pain Bringer (prod. by Has-Lo)

Man, Wu Tang re-interpretations have to be done immaculately for me to take heed....guess what, this new single from Philly femcee Ethel Cee that features Has-Lo and frequent collaborator Curly Castro is just that..

It's off the Wrecking Crew's "Wu-Tang Pulp" album, coming soon..
