Cover Art: The Yancey Boys - Sunset Blvd

Ahhh it's almost here... read the details below..

On October 29th, Delicious Vinyl will release the second Yancey Boys album entitled “Sunset Blvd.” Consisting of Illa J (J. Dilla’s younger brother) and Frank Nitt (Frank N Dank), the album features production entirely from the late, J. Dilla, featuring a new batch of beats that was recently unearthed. The album features Common, T3, Talib Kweli, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Guilty Simpson, J. Rocc, DJ Rhettmatic and others. As Frank Nitt states, “We created an album that would make Dilla proud. But this isn’t a nostalgia trip: Dilla’s beats were so future-forward that they’re right on time in 2013, and we’ve assembled the best artists possible to represent that.”

When the owner and founder of Fat Beats is gettin ready to put out a record, maaaan, you better pay attention...

Said owner is DJ Jab, and yes, he's preparing to release what I'm sure will be a great, great record, titled "The Trinity Project",  that will feature names like Immortal Technique, Ill Bill, Slug, Grand Puba, Roc Marciano and many others..

Today's business however is this butter funk gem.. an unreleased J Dilla track that was purchased direct from Dilla's foundation... Over it, is none other than 90s stalwarts A.G. and Sadat X... those smooth vocals you hear are handled by Janelle Collins..

Single: J Dilla ft. Danny Brown - Dilla Bot Vs. The Hybrid (Alternate Version)

A bit of an unreleased track right here....

2009's "Jay Stay Paid" was one of my fav. Dilla albums ever even though it was put out posthumously.. So you know I was giddy to see that there was an alternate, unreleased demo take of the "Dilla Bot Vs. The Hybrid" track, with different Danny Brown vocals...

Cookin’ Soul - Big Dilla (Mixtape)

Feb. 7th.. who would of thought that this date would come to mean so much about what Hip-Hop has lost?

Big Pun....The greatest Latino emcee ever.... J Dilla.. easily one of the best and most prolific producers the game ever knew. One called this day his birth, the other the day of his death. Strange coincidence? Not a chance... message? Maybe even less of a chance... at least for our understanding anyway.

Here Spanish production duo Cookin' Soul pays tribute to the two legends by blending their music up properly.. Punny on the verses, Dilla on the beats.. Perfect.

Happy Born Day Dilla...

Video: J Dilla - Clap Your Hands Freestyle (unreleased)

Holy shit...new Dilla.....from off a cassette tape no less...

I say again.. holy shit..

Jeedo:

I got this one on a cassette from T3 circa 1997. I’m not sure what it was for, or why Dilla had this on tape, but I thought it was hilarious. “Shut the Fuck Up and listen to this… this.” This kind of style was typical for our crew at this time – we were just finishing up the Fantastic Vol 1 album. It was never about what they said – but instead how they said it. We called it “R.A.W.” – Rugged And wild. And that is exactly what this one is – tape hiss and all.

Single: Immortal Technique - Toast To The Dead (prod. by J Dilla)

Utilizing an instrumental from the seemingly never ending cache that Dilla left behind Immortal Technique gets everyone ready for his upcoming new project in true warrior song style..

Powerful, edgy, full of gems and likely something I'll be bumping often, "Toast To The Dead" combines Dilla's menacing murky vibes w/ Tech's projecting, warnings and knowledge..

It's off the Tech's upcoming "The Martyr", due out soon that's set to feature guest looks from Brother Ali, Styles P, Joell Ortiz and many others...

DJ Rhettmatic - Dilla Tribute Mix

While today marks the death date of Big Pun, it also is somewhat bitter sweet as it doubles as the day that J Dilla was born...

The insanely gifted, multi-talented producer/emcee who also quite sadly has already left us as well came into the world today back in '74 and what can I say about his contributions to the game? Just a man who had a bunch of towering achievements and represented The D wonderfully.

Today, L.A. beatsmith and dejay extraordinaire DJ Rhettmatic lends a hand to create a 35 minute tribute mix for his old friend and cohort. Great mix...some of which is comprised of joints Jay Dee produced, other parts of it are just some rare Donuts....Also included, a live performance from Dilla in Paris, France.

AG & J Dilla - Dunkin Donuts

Dilla's beats are everywhere and while this type of project is usually frowned on by me (sorry, if you ain't someone Dilla woulda worked with in real life I don't like the fact that you grubbin off his beats) AG is just the right type of respected to pull off an ill tape utilizing some of Mr. Yancey's famed donuts...

This 15 track banger comes fresh off the heels of Andre's new album "Everything's Berri" , which you also need to check out...props to Andre for pumpin out mad quality work.
