Video Interview: Zane Lowe Interviews Kanye West For BBC

Ya know... I've said a lot of shit about Ye' in the past publically... from the fact that I enjoyed his music more when he was mainly a soul-sample producing cat in the background to me always, always applauding him as the ONLY rapper who stood up on TV and attacked George Bush Jr. after Katrina. Complexity is this cat... and that's coo, I'm complex..I know ppl don't fit in one lil' tiny box..nah, we wouldn't even fuckin want that if they could. At least you shouldn't.

Here, Ye' speaks with Zane Lowe and sheds some jewels about self-perception, the nature of corporations in the music industry, what he wanted to acomplish with his new album "Yeezus", being an outsider in the fashion industry, making predictions for the future and a lot more... a lot more...

No matter what you may think of thi cat, truth is truth and he def.touches on a good deal of it here. Sit back and listen for a bit..

Elvis Costello & The Roots - Wise Up Ghost LP (Stream)

When the fuck did The Roots (AKA my numero uno Hip-hop band) do an album with Elvis Costello? When?

As it turns out I guess this has been in the works for awhile and is officially done.. the Philly Collective and the legendary English Singer/songwriter are done with their collabo project "Wise Up Ghost", and you can now hear what's been described as a very "70s funk sounding" album, in all of it's glory over at NPR..

Video/Interview: DJ Muggs For Mass Appeal

Brand new interview wit the man, the legend.. none other than DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and Soul Assassins Fame..

Muggs breaks it all down, from the beginnings of Cypress, what his sound "is", the new music he digs, how he's actually from NY and what that was like goin from there to L.A. and tattoo culture among other things..

Great interview conducted by Mass Appeal for their 'Off The Wall' web series...

Video: AlunaGeorge - Your Drums, Your Love

UK duo AlunaGeorge's new video and tune "Your Drums, Your Love" strikes that ever-sweet spot in-between electro, drum and bass, Hip-Hop/R&B, and dance and proves oh so absorbing...

This recommendation came down to me from on high, (fellas, you shld know what I mean) and I'm so happy that shorty has taste.. and an ear for truly unique vocals, sported by London songstress Aluna and the man who's sounds totally captivate here, keyboardist George Reid.

If you're enthralled, do check out their single, "You Know You Like It" here..

Single: Metabeats ft. Action Bronson - Hookers

This kid Action Bronson is everywhere is he not? And everywhere he be he rips it the fuck on down... A proper new prospect I'd say.. and what's this I hear about him signing to Warner Bros/Vice through Left Brain of Odd Future? That's a good look mang... (but at this time not 100% verifiable, so don't take this blog's word for it.)

Welp, it would seem he's continuing on his rampage and onslaught today as I received word about this new single that features Bronsalino wrecking a track from UK producer Metabeats... "Hookers", as it's titled..

Enjoy... and be on the lookout for Metabeats' new album "Caviar Crackle"

Single: The BenchWarmers Clique - London Fog

The South Florida duo known as The BenchWarmers (Joka Wild and Travesty) are back with a new and as per usual, dope single offering for all fans of all things authentic rap..

Some real chilled out, buttery stuff to vibe with here, courtesy of a rapper's who's English accent doesn't sound OD wack to me, Booda French..

Booda's music has graced PHH before, get up on that search button for all that, meanwhile he's linking with Tanya Morgan repper Von Pea on a remix supplied by Mecca:83...

Eric Lau - Put Me On It (Last Night On Earth) Vol. 1

London-based Eric Lau is quickly becoming one of my fav. new beatsmiths..

Forget the fact that he handles the button pushin and drum programmin' in a manner that the late, great J Dilla himself would tip his hat to, this man is also a great DJing/mix talent..

You think I'm bullshitin, than just listen to this new, 70 minute mix of his "Put Me On It (Last Night On Earth)"...I'll just say this, if you dig vinyl goodies/mixes, this is def. up your alley.. tons of that on here.. Eric plucks some goodies out for us man..   description below:

"I often get approached to compile mixes and have free reign to do whatever but this time I was given a theme, ‘Last Night On Earth’. I was like okaaay, this is a challenge. Many thoughts and images came through but I never really thought about death as being my last night on earth, more that I would be flying to another place somehow. Probably on some craft or I would suddenly have the ability to fly, either which way I can picture myself with my iPod and Sennheisers on. There’s isn’t any contemporary music in the mix apart from Dilla because I would like to think everyone would be leaving earth too! The selection is based on a combination of good memories and what I personally look for in music. This is what I would like to listen to on my ascent away from Earth, I hope you enjoy is as much I do!"-Eric Lau

Video: DJ Format ft. Edan - Spaceship Earth

Been a lil' bit since I've heard Edan straight rip down a joint... DJ Format went ahead and helped me out by bringin this man Edan back out for "Spaceship Earth", a bangin cut off Format's "Statement Of Intent" LP that dropped Today...

Directed by Tim Crawley..

Video: Krate Krusaders ft. Dr. Syntax - On The Rise

One of my favorite UK emcees here... Dr. Syntax, shows you exactly why you've been spleeping on his considerable talent as he gets the visual treatment for the joint he did with the equally dope countrymen, the Krate Krusaders off their latest LP "When The Needle Drops"

"On The Rise" indeed man...

Single: Cypress Hill X Rusko - Roll It Light It

I know I got some dubstep/electro fans on PHH from time to time...this is plainly for ya'll...

Rusko has been taking over, and the Englishman continues his assent up in the dubstep world utilizing and re-working some Cypress vocals...

Single: The Funk League ft. Large Professor - Through Good And Bad (45 Remix)

2nd leak from Paris production duo The Funk League, off their new LP "Funky As Usual" that is due out on the 26th of the month...

The first cut I put up from these two was stellar and this one picks up right where that left off..

Using somewhat the same formula (1 part expertly crafted boom bap drums + 1 part golden era legend + 1 part  ridiculous horns) The funky pair lace Large Pro with a nice one... I'm officially ready to cop this record on CD and vinyl ppl..

The Funk League ft. Large Professor - Through Good And Bad (45 Remix)

Single: Eric Lau ft. Guilty Simpson, Oliver Daysoul and Fatima - Yesterday

Seems like nuthin is sweeter than memories of yesterday...

London producer Eric Lau gets you right in the mood to reminisce as he teams up with a subdued Guilty Simpson, who posits some of his most reflective rhymes yet on this beautifully crafted and vocally assisted track...

Oliver Daysoul and Fatima lend their stirringly poignant, hymn-like talents and boom, this one floats away...

Lau's "The Mission" EP drops on February 3rd..

Video: Mr. Woodnote & Eva Lazarus - "Untitled"

European Sax wiz Mr. Woodnote teams with Bristol, UK songstress/emcee Eva Lazarus for a super Jazzy tune that has no official title, but plenty of character..

This is such a shot in the arm man...I needed this... great musicianship all the way around....and yeah, I guess they shot the video in an abandoned bus..in a field.. lol.. don't get no liver than that!

Singles: Eric Lau ft. Guilty Simpson - The Mission

UK producer Eric Lau links up again with Detroit hardcore heavyweight and one third of Random Axe, Guilty Simpson and crafts together his 1st single "The Mission" that will drop officially on November 18th via Kilawatt Music ...
