Single: Big K.R.I.T. ft. Rapsody & Heather Victoria - Gettin Mine (prod. by 9th Wonder)

Hip-Hop lives in the South baby!

If you doubt that shit, take a listen to country bwoi K.R.I.T.'s latest offering that features Jamla queen and the femcee on everyone's mind, Rapsody, as well as the silky vocals of Heather Victoria.. oh, and the beat! Sounds like one of 9th's older (and my preffered) style of beatmaking here..all in all a dope look indeed.

Video: MED ft. Georgia Anne Muldrow - Candlelight

MED links with soul songstress supreme Geogia Anne Muldrow for a truly laid back and powerful message, delivered in the form of "Candlelight"; a new joint off MED's previously released "Bang Ya Head 3"..

Video: Idle Worship - Beautifully Bad

What a beautiful tune right? Sorry, D O is a sucker for those keys and slow building crescendos..

Here Res and Talib combine to form their Idle Worship group and give us the visuals for one of their more touching songs in "Beautifully Bad", off their "Habits Of The Heart" LP which has been available since last year, and officially for one year total next month.

Video: AlunaGeorge - Your Drums, Your Love

UK duo AlunaGeorge's new video and tune "Your Drums, Your Love" strikes that ever-sweet spot in-between electro, drum and bass, Hip-Hop/R&B, and dance and proves oh so absorbing...

This recommendation came down to me from on high, (fellas, you shld know what I mean) and I'm so happy that shorty has taste.. and an ear for truly unique vocals, sported by London songstress Aluna and the man who's sounds totally captivate here, keyboardist George Reid.

If you're enthralled, do check out their single, "You Know You Like It" here..

Singles: yU ft. DaNedra Rowell - Dreams

One third of DMV group Diamond District and just about one of my fav. new solo artists, yU, has a new single for us to dive into and as always things are proper..

This man can tell it far better than me, so look below for the details on this bubbly, inspiring new cut featuring the vocals of songstress DaNedra Rowell ...

Enlisting Danedra Rowell on vocals, yU eschews the new age boom-bap that got him noticed for something closer to all of our heartstrings. Featuring no rapped bars, “Dreams” is a bittersweet ballad that is less literal than emotive. It captures that late-night, pensive feeling us music heads are very familiar with. yU is able to craft a sound that is universal and hyper-local, breaking new ground for himself musically. The drums sound like they could be on any Diamond District-related project but the melody and chords don’t sound too far from something that could find its way onto radio.

Single: Flying Lotus ft. Erykah Badu - See Thru To U

Anytime Lotus gets up with anyone to do work it's usually, very aurally pleasing... this instance is no different friends...

This is a piece of Flylo's upcoming new album "Until The Quiet Comes", that will be an awesome jaunt into soundscapes I'm sure...

Single: Trinity (A.G. & Sadat X) ft. Janelle Collins - Sunshine (prod. by J Dilla)

When the owner and founder of Fat Beats is gettin ready to put out a record, maaaan, you better pay attention...

Said owner is DJ Jab, and yes, he's preparing to release what I'm sure will be a great, great record, titled "The Trinity Project",  that will feature names like Immortal Technique, Ill Bill, Slug, Grand Puba, Roc Marciano and many others..

Today's business however is this butter funk gem.. an unreleased J Dilla track that was purchased direct from Dilla's foundation... Over it, is none other than 90s stalwarts A.G. and Sadat X... those smooth vocals you hear are handled by Janelle Collins..

Video: J-Love - So Long

Ha! The softer side of perpetually hardcore mixtape king J-Love ppl!

If anyone doubted whether the man could do not only a song for the luvas, but also a vid, doubt no more..

Utilizing the Swizz Beatz-produced track that originally served as a Cassidy joint, with the  lovely Mashonda on the hook, we're treated to an age old love story.. we all been there right fellas?

Terry Urban Presents... Me & Mr. Jones: Amy Winehouse & Nas

Who does the blends and mash-ups and overall DJ shit as nicely as Mr. Terry Urban? Not many my friends... Here, we get the man's latest mixtape offering "Me & Mr. Jones"..

Nasir is readying his new LP for release later this month (the 17th) and around the same time, a lady who was pretty close to him (that many of us weren't aware of really) and who in her own right was a musical maven will be remembered on the 1st anniversary of her passing on the 23rd..

Sounds like good enough reason for a mixtape of both of these two's wonderful music to me..

All props due to Okayplayer for sanctioning this one...

Lil' bit of a lighter flavor here... what can I say it's Valentines Day.. stop complainin', turn around and take ten paces..

Video: Mr. Woodnote & Eva Lazarus - "Untitled"
