Nino Bless - The Latin Marksman (The Hit Files Vol.1)

We've all been clamoring for new and better Latino Hip-Hop artist's....the blogs, the artist's themselves, shit, even the fucking industry has tirelessly searched night and day for an emcee that could fill the void left by undisputed Latino El Rey de musica Hip-Hop, Big Pun. A super emcee of Latin descent that has the rabid and lucrative co-sign of Hispanic folks across the country without question, but is revered and admired by all races. That's what they want and what Pun was able to accomplish through skills, dedication, a classic debut and a hardcore rhyme flow patterned after Hip-Hop icon Kool G Rap's. He was one in a million, and while guys like Immortal Technique and Joell Ortiz have continued to carry the flag in the 2K, no one has fully been accepted as the "next" great Latino emcee.....

I would like to officially throw another name in the sombrero regarding the heir apparent for Pun's vacant throne....his name is Nino Bless and for the past few years he's consistently been the illest Boriqua on the set. For the uninitiated, Bless is the Brooklyn based, NYC raised, Puerto Rican emcee that had people going nuts last year with his "Untold Scriptures" mixtape. He wields witty punches and metaphors in such a skilled fashion that it's garnered him the admiration of the same man that Pun modeled his style after......Kool G Rap says of Nino "he's a lyrical giant and I just don't co-sign anybody". Pretty lofty praise, but well deserved however and from the ultimate authority......

Putting out "The Latin Marksman (The Hit Files Vol.1)" a week ago, I'm just now catching up with Nino's latest release and I'm happy to say that we have more evidence of his lyrical prowess and artistic gifts here. Filled with hardcore production, dope freestyles ("Can I Live", "Hate In Ya Blood") and Nino's cutting lyricism this must be put on your radar. Only downside on "The Latin Marksmen" is that it is a little short, but we'll cut Nino some slack on that because he's hitting us with his "The Nomads (Nino Bless x Madlib)" tape on the 15th of this month.....Hardcore heads have to be satisfied with that kind of work ethic. Recruiting Slaughterhouse, Killah Priest and Big Lou there are also some great guest spots that go down as well (how ya like that mastered version of the initial Slaughterhouse record eh?!!?!), but to me it's tracks like Nino's "Tribute to Bone Thugs" and "Murders" that really showcase just how high powered his bars are. Don't miss the swipe he takes at Statik Selektah on the "Hate in Ya Blood" freestyle and I'll see you on the 15th with another drop from Nino....
