News: R.I.P. Willie Mitchell

Just found out that today the legendary soul, R&B, rock and roll and funk producer, arranger and singer known to the world and his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, the great Willie Mitchell passed on...

Mitchell spent a good amount of his career producing for Al Green and many other all-time Memphis greats like Syl Johnson and Ann Peebles...

The man who popularized practically invented utilizing a hard hitting kick drum in musical compositions was also the head of a few labels in his day, a bandleader, an accomplished trumpeter and recorded as an artist himself, releasing a slew of hits in the 60's is a beloved part of southern and American Music history.

A number of Hip-Hop's classic and best records sampled Mr. Mitchell's genius (Gza's "Liquid Swords" anyone?) time and again and his influence spanned decades and generations...

"Papa" Willie was 81 when he died today of an apparent heart attack....He had continued making and writing music in his later years and had contributed to both the latest Rod Stewart album and Soloman Burke's forthcoming release as well...

Greetings,
My name is Tahir (dead prez producer). I have a music series called "The BlakkBerry Filez". I have released 5 volumes from this series in 2009 and scheduling volume 6 release for top of 2010. The vibe is revolutionary and responsible hip hop. If possible, I would like my work to be reviewed on your site. For my songs, videos, and more info go to www.TahirRBG.ning.com. Thanks for your consideration, time, and (hopefully) response.
