Singles: yU ft. DaNedra Rowell - Dreams

One third of DMV group Diamond District and just about one of my fav. new solo artists, yU, has a new single for us to dive into and as always things are proper..

Enlisting Danedra Rowell on vocals, yU eschews the new age boom-bap that got him noticed for something closer to all of our heartstrings. Featuring no rapped bars, “Dreams” is a bittersweet ballad that is less literal than emotive. It captures that late-night, pensive feeling us music heads are very familiar with. yU is able to craft a sound that is universal and hyper-local, breaking new ground for himself musically. The drums sound like they could be on any Diamond District-related project but the melody and chords don’t sound too far from something that could find its way onto radio.

Single: Method Man ft. StreetLife & Freddie Gibbs - Built For This

Man, how long has it been since I heard Meth truly go to work on some Shaolin-esque' production? How much longer still since he teamed with his longtime protege/collab man, StreetLife?

..And as if that wasn't reason enough for us to peep this new joint, that stems from Rza's upcoming "The Man With the Iron Fists" movie soundtrack, Freddie Gibbs is along for the ride...

Anytime Lotus gets up with anyone to do work it's usually, very aurally pleasing... this instance is no different friends...

This kid Action Bronson is everywhere is he not? And everywhere he be he rips it the fuck on down... A proper new prospect I'd say.. and what's this I hear about him signing to Warner Bros/Vice through Left Brain of Odd Future? That's a good look mang... (but at this time not 100% verifiable, so don't take this blog's word for it.)

Welp, it would seem he's continuing on his rampage and onslaught today as I received word about this new single that features Bronsalino wrecking a track from UK producer Metabeats... "Hookers", as it's titled..

I'm excited about this man... no question... here's to hopefully getting another dope single or perhaps the album!
