Weapon X- Portrait Of A Starving Artist

It's really a shame sometimes that we're living in 2008 man, aside from the outrageous gas prices and a completely shitty economy here in America we also have to deal with the fact that a lot of really great, new, hip-hop artists are being completely ignored and probably only a couple of weeks away from quitting this bullshit game and just picking up some applications from Kinkos. Alas, here we are my hip-hop bretheren stuck in the 8th year of the 2K, wandering around aimlessly as we try our hardest to ignore that radio blasting Soulja Boy in the car filled with 16 yr. olds sitting next to us at the light. Gritting our teeth in anger as super corporations like Mcdonalds use our culture to sell items off the dollar menu....in spanish....staring in bewilderment as VH1 creates another new sitcom based on a hip-hop has been and their completely lame antics and activities post hip-hop stardom. Taking a moment of silence as we stare at Akon on the new Source cover on the newstand. Wondering what kind of shitty tabloidesque kind of magazine that is laying behind the Source and realizing that it is teh spawn of the the Source's old editor in chief. Yes, it's a tough time for the real "heads", but fear not, I'm sure that the age of life size, iced out Kellog's Frosted Flake's boxes dangling around the necks of wanna be rappers is almost at a close, then again....maybe it's not. Either way there's a new cat from L.A., who from the moment I first heard him spit I momentarilly forgot about all the saturated bullshit that currently consumes the game. His name I would later find out is Weapon X and this is/was his debut album; a strikingly similiar account of the rap game that I just wrote, as well as a great 1st person perspective on L.A. and just a really dope line up of beats all balled up into a steller debut effort, reminiscent of one from the mid to late 90's. I forget Weapon X's producer's name, but he also is a guy that is very noteworthy, this joint had plenty of beats that had my head noddin'.
