Single: Jay Rock - Money On Mayweather

Another lil' treat from out west, this time from one of L.A.'s burgeoning over-hyped young talents...

Jay Rock takes the buzz that surrounds the 1st of May and it's epic showdown between two of the world's best welterweights and puts it into a Hip-Hop song. It appears that Jay has Mayweather picked to win this contest, despite the fact that Mosley is a seasoned vet who's just as fast as him plus stronger and coming off a number of impressive wins over top notch opponents.

And wassup with Rock callin' Hatton and De La Hoya "has beens" in here?? Wow...listen up fella, even if them two are well past their best days they'd easily put you to sleep for talkin reckless like that...be a fan not a flunkie and show some respect...Oh I forgot your a Mayweather fan so you don't know nuthin bout that.

*goes and bumps some Freddie Gibbs*

Video: Cypress Hill - Armada Latina

Thursday starts and we get a new vid for what I'm sure will be a crossover hit (the other kinda crossover) for the brothers from the Hill...

Embracing their Latin roots the Hill puts some visuals to "Armada Latina", the danceable Spanglish track assisted by Pitbull and Marc Anthony...

A lot of ya'll thought this was fixin to be wack, I gotta say, they finesse'd that pretty well...If you don't like this ya don't like latin folks!

Review: Madlib & Guilty Simpson - OJ Simpson

As the city of Detroit continues to falter with billions in debt being accrued by it’s once thriving automobile industry, war zone like crime and 3rd world poverty conditions, from almost out of nowhere a true Hip-Hop renaissance has sprung up. Hockey town artists are kicking rhymes that are as brutal as their surrounding conditions over beats that marry the soul of Motown with the innovation of J Dilla’s on-going influence. Over the past 4 or 5 years you’d be hard pressed to find a more legit scene anywhere on the U.S. map and at the forefront of this movement is a man named Guilty Simpson.

One of Detroit city's best kept secrets recently had his best works thrown together by 14KT of the Athletic Mic League and I gotta say, yes, Magestik Legend is in fact one of the best we've NEVER heard from outta the D.

Check out this megamix of his music that clocks in at about 14 tracks and features production from names like Bean One, Astronote and 14KT himself, among others.

Buck 65 - 20 Minute Strange Famous Records Megamix by Buddy Peace!

Canadian Hip-Hopper Buck 65 has the pleasure of having a heap of his jams mixed together by UK wizard of DJing, mix making and resident Strange Famous Records remixer Buddy Peace...

This mix was actually from back in 2007, but recently Buddy and Buck have decided to bring it back out for the masses. It contains a good deal of Buck's work from his 2007 album "Situation" as well as goodies from his back catalogue.

Here's a few words from Buck on the mix:

"I was walking around listing to music in my headphones and something came on I hadn’t heard in a while. It was this mega-mix-thing that Buddy Peace made for us a few years ago, right before Situation came out. Sweet Jesus, it knocked my socks off. I had forgotten how great it is and was reminded of the genius of Buddy Peace. The man is a beast when it comes to putting mixes together and it’s so unbelievably flattering when it’s your material he’s working with."

The 20 minute compilation is indeed a nice lil' jaunt into Buck's stuff, definitely a nice mix...Buddy Peace is a proficient ass cat with this...check it out.

Single: Deux Process - Tilt The Crown (prod. by DJ Rhettmatic)

It ain't often that I get to write about some cats from my section of the world (C. Springs suhn!) going out to L.A., pursuing their dreams in the Hip-Hop game and collaborating with legends....Matter of fact unless we're talking bout' The Procussions (who are now defunct) than I never get to do it...

Enter in Deux Process (Vise Versa, Chief Nek & Shawn Dubb), some cats from round my way who've spent a grand total of 2 years out in LaLa land, who are now doing tracks with DJ Rhettmatic; the world famous Beat Junkie himself.

Well done bruthas, well done...Seriously thinking about doin' the exact same shit my damn self cause' Colorado ain't where it's at anymore...matter of fact I doubt it ever was.

Here's said track, that I guess is actually a year old already...Rhettmatic's production is nuts and the Duex Process boys rep accordingly...

If any of you are interested in checkin out these cats music a bit more keep in mind that Chief & Vise Versa got an album called "Price Of Dreams" coming real soon as well as a project with Soul Assassins producer G Rocka comin too..

Props to Shake on the link

Single: Big Boi - Shutter Bug

Annnnd this be the 1st single off Big Boi's new album "Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty" that is due out on May 4th...Finally...

"Shutter Bug" is fun, infectiously inventive and doesn't find Big Boi compromising in the lyrical department whatsoever....a great pick for a 1st single.

In some related news concerning the "Sir Luscious Left Foot..." album, it seems that despite early reports, Andre 3000 will be all over it...hell yass!!

Soul Assassins Radio The West Wing Hosted by DJ Muggs & Mr. Chocc: 4/5/10

Last night DJ Muggs and Mr. Chocc were at it again mixing together a nice stream of new bangers, but the main highlight of the show however was Muggs having on his old group 7A3 (Sean & Brett Bouldin)...

Buckle in and get ready for a dose of Muggs' earlier works and some unreleased bangers that 7A3 never released.

Mobb Deep - Whole Lotta Thug (prod. by Alchemist..Unreleased)

Yesterday we got an initial dose of what Alchemist has locked away in his vaults...

Not that it wasn't a good look, but compared to what he fired off today, it's nuthin'...

Here's a Mobb banger (jeez I haven't been able to say that in awhile) that got the axe from "Amerikaz Nightmare" and has never seen the light of day until about 2 hrs ago when Al set it free via his Twitter...

Single: Opio & Unjust - Aggression

Bubbly new track from west coast Heiro staple Opio and his latest running mate Unjust (of Chosen Few) off their new project "Mark It Zero"; a tribute album to the character 'The Dude' from the 1998 Joel and Ethan Coen film "The Big Lebowski"...

Looks like Donwill has some competition for who's tribute to a late 90's/early 2K cult comedy flick willbe the best.

As much as I loved the "The Big Lebowski", I'm not totally sure it's off beat humor and tale of a slacker/stoner who loves to bowl and White Russians is fodder for Hip-Hop inspiration...then again, if anyone can make it work it's some bruthas from the Heiro Emporium.

Just remember "You got a date Wednesday baby!"

Video: Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine on CNBC

LOL, did she really say that headphones were an "unlikely" product for Dre to be slingin'?

In a departure from the mania that went down in The Bean yesterday, Dre and Jimmy (that's the only "unlikely" pair I see) continued on their promo campaign and stopped at CNBC today and explained Andre's Beats By Dr. Dre headphones...

Jimmy Iovine kicked some knowledge about the future of the music biz, and if you can make it through the first 7 minutes you'll catch Dre actually confiming that "Detox" will be released never this year (halleujah, sweet lawd halllujah) and that "Under Pressure" will be dropped in 2 weeks...

You may now exhale....

Single: Reflection Eternal ft. Bun B - Strangers (Paranoid)

New one from the duo that currently has the Hip-Hop world (the real one) ready to blow a gasket waiting on their new album which just suffered another pushback (gotta wait til' May now) but we all know will be worth the wait...

Here they get up with Bun B and over Hi-Tek's insane production Kweli and the Port Authur legend get all deep with the conspiracy theories and whatnot...

Before I check out of this post, can I just say that Bun is officially making me consider to the fullest that he might be the chosen one to take over Scarface's vacated "king of the south" moniker. It's between him, Devin and Killer Mike at this point...

props to Shake on the linkage

Rhymefest - Dangerous: 5-18 Mixtape

One of the Windy City's illest lyricist's emerges with a new mixtape that is comprised mainly of joints that were turned away from inclusion on his new album...Anyone interested in hearing em'?

Rhymefest has brought us "Dangerous: 5-18", the pre-cursor to "El Che"; his long awaited sophomore album. This mixtape is a tall order...I'll admit I didn't particularly dig Fest's debut, but in between that time his witty style has grown on me and a whole hell of a lot others in the underground scene. This is due to Mr. Che Smith (album title make a bit more sense now?) hitting the road and flexing his undeniable skills in the wordplay department on many a radio show, club performance and mixtape appearance.

My expectations are even higher for "El Che" now that this has dropped. He's really started to find his stride as an artist and beyond that I agree with a lot of his philosophies toward life. Tape features trusted underground names like Elzhi, Large Professor, Supastition, Skyzoo, Rahzel, Little Brother and Kid Capri.

Give this a spin and remember on May 18th La Revolucion begins...
