Jr & Ph7 Present The Standard

I've been more than a lil' greedy by not putting this gem up in a more timely manner....If you haven't bumped into it yet on another one of your favorite, ultra dope, underground, well-written and tastefully executed blogs than your in for a great surprise today.

I've been hammering home the point for well over a year on Purehip-hop that when it comes to great boom bap production, no one is getting down better than cats from Europe. "The Standard" is the debut LP from German production duo Jr and PH7 and it is further proof that European cats are definitely taking over and taking the reigns. I think that this album has been one of the iller compilation style jumpoffs in recent memory and I'll give it the stamp of being the best of 09' so far.

Hailing from the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen, Jr and Ph7 aren't new to the hustle, if you dig around you'll find that they've released some material prior to "The Standard", but really this is their biggest and best stuff thus far. Collaborating with the likes of Planet Asia, Rakaa of Dilated Peoples, Edo G, Skyzoo, Supastition, Black Milk, Guilty Simpson and Oddisee to name a few, if your an underground head this is going to serve as the heavy rotation material in your whip (or gas electric hybrid) for a good long while.... I really admire the list of emcee's and performers they got to appear on this effort, truly I do....If I could put together a group of people to put out an album with, it would look a lil' somethin like this tracklist, real talk......amazing....

The production is top quality and this is that sorely needed album that America has needed for a long time....pay attention!
