P.Casso - Earth Tones

With his new mixtape the Brooklyn based producer/emcee/DJ and self proclaimed "earth tone king", P.Casso blesses his loyal followers with a unique blend of mod and sage-like lyricism all while employing a cool, calm and collected foundation of sound....

"Earth Tones" has been out for a little bit now and really it came about as a three way brain child of a bunch of really cool sites/blogs that wanted to push some real Hip-Hop to their viewers and the interweb masses as a whole. Something that I'm proud to say they have managed to do successfully.....

Resonating with creative paragon, "Earth Tones" displays all the good things Hip-Hop can be....Whether attacking the perils and stress of life with an adept drum break and alluring sample or raising the energy levels with mesmeric crooning via talented vocalist guest, the varying looks that P.Casso gives us here is truly worthy of applaud. Helpful and even spiritually re-affirming at times, one has to admire Casso's care free "Hakuna Matatta" type of mentality that clearly shows up in his music at times. Wise advice emanates, reflection is explored, caution is thrown to the wind and honesty becomes melded with fantasy and poetry....A great release that features many a heady guest contribution from the likes of Black Milk, Von Pea (Of Tanya Morgan), Madlib, Fresh Daily, Emilio Rojas and 8thW1. Tracks to peep are "Some Fun", "Mind Over Matter" and "Wise Up Remix".
