Raekwon & DJ Absolut - Blood On Chef's Apron

I tried tellin' you guys as soon as this dropped I'd try and find a link....And well, that has now happened....The Chef Raekwon is still going strong and if this mixtape is any indicator, his new sequel to the 90's classic "Only Built For Cuban Linx" will be an all out smash banger. Filled with dope new cuts that not only sound ill in their own right, but also build uncontrollable anticipation, this is album material packaged as a mixtape....straight goodness as I like to say.

There's a lil' bit of experimentation going on, but for the most part Rae stays true to basically the same sound that has made him one of the true Hip-Hop champion's of New York City. Good to see one of the better DJ's from the early 2K return to true form as well with Abso. He had been doing a bunch of really nonsensical mixes for awhile, but I think with this he's now back on track.

I like the features the most....Shameful, I know, but I have to admit when I see a track that features Raekwon and AZ together I go into lil' kid fanboy mode....disgusting right? I mean Rae fuckin teams up with with the cream of the NY crop from both yesteryear in AZ as well as today in Joell Ortiz. Rae also takes it to the mid-west with Twista and finds time to team with L.A. heads B-Real and The Game. That's stuff of Hip-Hop lore friends, if you don't trust my word go ask another 90's head. The features are top notch. Don't get me wrong though, there's still some solo heat on here where Rae holds the mic down himself..see "Trenchmen" or "on The Fly Note".....A real coming out party for producer BT, who contributes many an ill track for this effort...."Blood On Chef's Apron" is simply great stuff, and a great precursor to what I truly feel will be the album of 09'.
