Bun B has always been a great artist and specifically one of his strong points is what he routinely brings as a collaborator....On "Hood Love", a single plucked from the latest DJ Neptune and DJ Smallz "Southern Smoke" mixtape, The Port Arthur product links up with one of the finest wordsmiths to ever come outta the Detroit area and the legendary DJ Premier (also originally from Texas) for a highly bumpable junket.
Over Premo's soulful and laid back boom bappery Royce and Bun delve into the vast subject that is 'Hood Love' i.e. having love in the hood......
I felt Bun stuck to the topic a bit better, but that didn't take away from Royce's interesting contribution much. At the end of the day everything came together swell on this go round' and your left wishing that Royce woulda been able to convince the Slaughterhouse boys to scoop some beats from more of Hip-Hop's production luminaries like Pete Rock, Muggs or Large Pro--That and well, that Preme would hurry up and give us that long awaited solo compilation LP.
