Single: Freddie Gibbs - The Wrong One (prod. by Buckwild)

What do you get when you mix eerie production from beatmaking legend Buckwild with a pulp storyline from up and coming MC Freddie Gibbs? You get the illness that is "The Wrong One", a select cut off of Gibbs' new mixtape "The Labels Tryin To Kill Me".

The Gary, Indiana bred and now southern Cali based Gibbs has long been on his grind and has already released a couple of mixtapes that have turned heads. His rhyme style that combines gangsta rap posturings with reflective accounts of struggle and touches of obvious pro marijuana stances have garnered him a bit of attention from Purehip-hop in the past, but never moved me to fully pull the trigger on co-signing his work. This mainly is due to him being a bit too much in the same vein as guys that came before him and did it better i.e Pac, UGK etc., etc., IMO, but tracks like this definitely set him apart in a much more noticable way...Hopefull the mixtape follows suit with this cut and will push me to post something of his again...we'll have to wait and see.

"The Wrong One" details an intricate lil' crime allegory, that apparently is the true story of how Gibbs acquired the noticable scar by his eye. Shedding some light on his neferious past, Gibbs unleashes this gem of a track that has already been rapped over by Beanie Sigel, but for obvious reasons I'm not gonna label simply just a freestyle.
