Single: Scram Jones - 40 Bar Flashback

Before he was one of the game's most in demand producers Scram Jones was an up and coming double threat....

I first saw him featured in the Source's "Unsigned Hype" section and before that I had picked up a copy of his "Loose Cannons" mixtape/album back in the early 2K. I was highly impressed with the production on "Loose Cannons", but even more so with dude's potential as an artist.

A talented and witty wordsmith Scram isn't just ya average producer taking up rapping. In fact he's a gifted emcee through and through that not only can kick it into high gear at times but also is at moments very rewind worthy....If you need further evidence go google some of his solo 12" tracks like "64 Bit", "Panic Room", "Speed Demons", "Jackson Jacker" and "12 Years Ago".

I never knew why he stopped rhymin' because back then he was definitely one of the better up and coming talents that could ride in both lanes. He was more hardcore and balanced than most underground acts, yet he chose to hang it up for quite a good time for some reason.....In fact I haven't heard him spit since 2005.

Yep, the guy who I now consider far and wide the current authority on flipping Rock samples (sorry Muggs and Rick Rubin) is finally reprising his role spitting on the mic. This go round yields "40 Bar Flashback", a wondrously produced banger that finds Jones reminiscing on his years coming up in the rap game and just overall his memories of all his favorite records growing up. Not to fret Scram, we know ya name ova here at Purehip-hop and have for a long time....
