Video: Joe Cuba - Bang Bang Animation Vid

Ahh man, Monday night with some new/old Joe Cuba...

The man known as the godfather of Latin Boogaloo music as well as one of the main progenitors of the vast Nuyorican and Salsa sounds, Joe Cuba AKA Gilberto Calderón, despite his last [nick]name was actually of Puerto Rican descent and grew up in Manny Hanny, blazing trails with his conga and his sextet band. He was diverse and often performed many songs in English in the beginning of his career, but later crossed over and started performing in Spanish.

Today was actually Joe's death anniversary, (he passed on last year) and I suppose in honor of that, Joe's old label Fania Records has released this new animation video for his classic (and surefire party starter, if your Latino) tune "Bang Bang" in honor of the re-release of his also classic album "El Alcalde Del Barrio" on Feb. 23rd...

Just in case your wondering where exactly you've heard this joint before, if you peeped out J.Lo's 2006 Hector Lavoe biopic "El Cantante" than it was included as the party music for the scene when a young Lavoe (Marc Anthony) meets his darling Puchi for the first time.....just go to the 4:30 mark to hear/see
