Donwill Starring As Don Cusack: Laura's Tape

I was/am a huge fan of the dramatic comedy "High Fidelity" and the fact that Donwill of Tanya Morgan has interweaved it into both this new mixtape and his upcoming new album "Don Cusack in High Fidelity" (3/23/10) is refreshing and I hope both projects will be well-received...

If your struggling to understand all the references behind this tape lemme learns ya rite quick... The flick "High Fidelity" was about a cat named Rob Gordon (John Cusack) who gets his in with the ladies, but never seems to hold on to em'. His latest steady chick, Laura, just bounced on him too...He's constantly scrambling to manage keeping her in his life, Rendezvousing with past flames and maintaining his record store that he runs with his two eccentric friends. Rob is a fanatical, vinyl collecting, music buff who used to deejay, but now seems stuck in a major life rut. He is a poetical soul who is only searching for a meaning, i.e. the perfect inspiration for Donwill's latest musical output.

Don uses all that inspiration to formulate this tape which deals largely with scenarios involving a difficult significant other. "Laura's Tape" contains a really different kinda aura (it's somewhere between old Lucy Pearl and D'angelo on Acid) and while I'm not sure whether it's gonna be something I bump all the time, I think artistically Donwill took some serious risks that for the most part pay off...
