Single: Rakim Walk These Streets ft. Maino (prod. by Needlez)

Over an astoundingly Dr Dre'ish sounding production from Needlez the God MC gets busy speaking on the truths about social perception being tied to monetary gains and trading verses with Brooklyn upstart Maino.

The theme of street life's tough laws and risky paths to capital is evident here and while I'm no fan of Maino's his performance does warrant a nod of respect as he successfully held his own aside perhaps one of the most prolific writers in Hip-Hop history. He doesn't stray from his usual fodder much, but he doesn't kill the song with a horrible 16 either; a sign of an acceptable guest spot.

As for the aging "Master", he provides ample food for thought with bits of his trademark weighty lyricism but clearly this outing wasn't one that cements a good possibility of a huge comeback. As far as OKing the song's hook which has an effect that is somewhere between a heavy echo resonance and auto tune, I can't really understand his thinking behind the structuring of this either. "Walk These Streets" is alright, but not what Ra's core fans are expecting from him...I'd really hate to have waited for this album for years only to be disappointed with The Microphone Fiend trying aimlessly to make "modern" Hip-Hop...Ra, we love what you represent and we don't want you to change anything. Make that good ole' NY boom bap and worry about the soundscan later. Raekwon proved that's a formula that can win and get you some paper.

Between this, the first leak off "Seventh Seal" and the recent "Euphoria" collab with Jada (that I didn't even bother posting up), I must say I'm getting a lil' worried about what may happen on the new album, but I'll keep my fingers crossed and try to be hopeful...
