Single: AZ - I’m Ill (prod. by MoSS)

New one from Brooklyn veteran AZ, off his upcoming "Doe Or Die II"....

Okay first, did anyone know that he was even doing another "Doe Or Die"?? And even better yet, does anyone think he can make something that will come reasonably close to the classic status of the first one? I know his boy (I think they're still boys) Nas had great success when he re-hashed "Illmatic" with "Stillmatic", but Mr. Cruz needs to understand that when Nas made that move he committed to making another classic LP just like his debut. I mean he's [AZ] been consistent and has dropped a number of albums regularly over the years, but more often than not they've only shown flashes of his enormous talent.

His latest studio release "Undeniable" was without a doubt Sosa's worst album ever, but he came back pretty strong with that retail mixtape "Niggaz 4 Life", so I'm hopeful...kinda...

"I'm Ill" isn't a knock down banger, but it's not shabby either...recruiting Statik Selektah for the scratching duties was a nice touch and MoSS laced this, but AZ's verses don't make you wanna run the song back immediately after it's conclusion like certain joints ("Uncut Raw", "Gimme Yours", "Rather Unique") on the original "Doe Or Die".

So far he's on somewhat on the right path to re-creating the genius of his landmark debut, but I'm not convinced totally. My suggestion...get back on that Mafia rhyme tip/steez in a hurry. It was a big part of what made "Doe Or Die" so dope...
