Video: The Roots - How I Got Over

Coming about 4 months after the MP3 leak, now we have the video to The Roots' "How I Got Over", that precedes their 9th album of the same title that is now dropping in February of 2010.

Directed by BBgun, the visuals for this joint combine perfectly with Black Thought's poignant words, giving a funky, yet all too realistic view of what the current situation is out on them damn streets.

This struck a real chord with me man.....Really, it's one of the most honest and on-point songs/video's that's been done in a minute. While the rest of the game tries to convince the world that we're still living ghetto fabulous and doing well, the actual story is far more bleek...This great recession has had a lot of folks, especially those in the inner city fucked up for years now (scuse' my french) living ineffectual lives by force and I think it's about high time that Hip-Hoppers stopped posturing with all this consumerism and start using the one thing that we still got--our music, to scream out the injustice to whoever will still listen.

Big time props go out to The Roots for making something that is equally heartfelt and piercing.
