K Funk Presents Hiss-Story Volume 1 Mixed by DJ Nikoless

Spotted this gem of a compilation mix over at The T.R.O.Y. Blog....

This ill mix is the brainchild of Romanian demo hunter K Funk and Minneapolis radio personality Kevin Beacham, both of whom met and are frequent lurkers on the Philaflava forum (as is yours truly)....

The two rare Hip-Hop fiends got together and decided to create a mix of demo's from ya favorite heads for a special radio/tv program in K Funk's Hometown of Romania. The whole concept behind "Hiss-Story" is that Beacham transfers most of (except for 3) the tracks from tapes and as all of us Lo-Fi heads know when ya do that there will be some hissing sounds in the background of ya music...That's just due to the quality of the original dubbing, but hey personally it's somethin' I love....gives the music character.

Really was cool to hear some of the early recordings from cats like Madlib, Kool Keith and the group Of Mexican Descent...

Also included at the end of this mix are some personal demos of Beacham's from the early 90's. Including one song he arranged (S.P.O), one he produced (Brain Leakage), and his old group, Savage Intellect....
