Don Cannon And Young Chris - The Network Mixtape

Brand new mixtape from once rising Roc-A-Fella and State Property phenom Young Chris titled "The Network"...

Chris was busy in 2008 and dropped several well-received mixtapes, but that really hasn't been the case in the 09'. Despite less grindin' Chris's name still rings out as one to watch in many Hip-Hop circles, but I'm afraid this particular offering doesn't support that notion much...

Far too hardcore and strong of a lyricist to be trading in his no-nonsense material for the constant crooning and hit-fishing that takes place here, I'm afraid Young Chris dips one too many times in the mainstream pool for me to big up this joint as official....

Fans of his work on the first couple State Property LP's and the Young Gunz debut album unequivocally will be disenchanted with Chris's recent direction.

Not everything is a let-down, as Chris does manage to use his connections to secure a host of high brow guest features that usually pan out...Black Thought owned his spot and The same could be said for Free & Beans on "The Last 2". Even Raheem Devaughn's somewhat unexpected appearance worked out well....Still, It's plainly obvious that "The Network" really fails to measure up and has little replay value and bordered many times on totally gimmicky and typical "mixtape rapper" fodder....
