Single: Fabolous - Lullaby (prod. by The Alchemist)

It wasn't so long ago it seems that Fab was a talented, fresh presence in NY, that was routinely stealing the show on Clue mixtape appearances and wowing people with his witty punchlines....

A handful of underperforming albums and 10 or so years later I'm stumped...Why didn't Fab transform into that great, 2nd coming of Jay-Z that we thought he was destined to become?

The answer is simple; Money.....Money has dictated 8 outta the 10 moves Fab has made in terms of the direction his music went....From the singles he put out for albums to the collaborations he undertook. I've been around since he busted out as Fabolous Sport, a mostly hardcore rapper who pushed the limits in terms of rhymes about the neferious lifestyle of a hustler/playboy from Brooklyn. Fast forward to his latest niche', he's rockin tight shirts, constantly promoting his new clothing line and just basically not putting the artform first....Nothing in his music mirrors reality much and even his most tame, level headed attempts at making relatable music come off really contrived....

While Fabo has sold out a bit, he still manages to every once in a great while make a joint that peeks the interests of those same kids that bumped his mixtape stuff from the late 90's and early 2K's....

"Lullaby" is an unreleased (big surprise there) track that didn't make the cut for Fab's upcoming new LP "Loso's Way", that is supplemented by a pretty sharp performance from the once celebrated mixtape champ as well as nice assists from Alchemist on the beat and Just Blaze on the Scratches.....This is a nice joint no doubt, but it's only one out of several that have leaked early in promotion for the LP that I've liked....
